Many of the answers you are looking for in one place
Choosing a Psychologist is like choosing a life partner - chemistry and trust are an essential combination in a successful relationship. Have questions? Most likely I have the answers!
I strive to create a bond of trust with my clients and make their experience as pleasant as possible.
Here you can find some answers to the most frequently asked questions related to clinical psychology consultations.

HOW LONG DOES EACH SESSION LAST AND HOW MANY WILL I NEED?
Each individual or family therapy session lasts 60 minutes. The number of sessions you need depends on your situation and can be discussed with your psychologist. After the first 1-2 sessions, your psychologist will discuss what he or she considers to be an appropriate number of sessions to help you resolve your problem. In this way, you can set goals and work together to achieve them.
Many factors can influence the length of therapy, including the issues you seek help with, the strategies you already use, your support network, prior counseling you may have had, and your commitment to the therapeutic measures to be implemented.

DO YOU WORK WITH SPECIAL PRICE SCHEDULES?
Yes. Prices will depend on the type of session and the time it takes place:
PRESENTIAL CONSULTATION | Add €5 to the consultation fee during normal hours
CONSULTATION HOURS PLUS (From Monday to Friday, between 6 pm and 10 pm. Saturdays between 9 am and 1 pm) | THEgrow up 10 € to the consultation fee during normal hours

WHAT PSYCHOLOGY TECHNIQUES ARE USED IN THESE CONSULTATIONS?
Since no patient or problem is the same, I use various clinical psychology techniques depending on the person, the problem, the context or the phase of treatment we are in.
Some of the techniques I use the most:
- 3rd Generation Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (3rd Wave CBT) - a set of therapeutic approaches that expand beyond traditional cognitive behavioral therapy ).
While 2nd Wave CBT focuses primarily on changing negative thoughts and behaviors, 3rd Wave CBT includes techniques that cover a broader perspective, including psychological, biological and social aspects, such as:
- Mindfulness: focusing on the present moment and accepting it without judgment;
- Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT): helping people to deal with difficult thoughts and feelings in a positive way;
- Goal-based therapy: setting and achieving specific goals to improve quality of life;
- Values-centered therapy: helping people to identify and follow their most important values;
- Neuroscience therapy: using neuroscience principles to understand and treat mental disorders;
- Person-centered psychotherapy: developing a positive and trusting therapeutic relationship to help the person explore their feelings and behaviors;
- Group psychotherapy: working with a group of people with similar problems to gain mutual support and perspectives;
- Family psychotherapy: working with family members to improve family dynamics and solve relationship problems;
- Exposure therapy: gradually facing fears and phobias to overcome them.

What is the difference between a Clinical Psychologist and a Therapist?
Clinical Psychologists provide counseling and therapy to clients, but not all coaches or therapists are Psychologists. In Portugal, for a psychologist to provide consultations, he is legally obliged to register with the Order of Portuguese Psychologists, having completed the necessary training (including a period of internship with supervision and intervision) and to provide consultations in Europe, he needs to be registered at_cc781905-5cde -3194-bb3b-136bad5cf58d_European Federation of Psychologists' Associations.
The term 'therapist' is not protected in Portugal, so anyone can use this title.
Clinical and Registered Psychologists must have a minimum of 5 years of university education and 1 year of supervised experience and participate in continuing education to keep their skills and knowledge up to date.
Being attended by someone who is registered (with a Professional Card) guarantees high quality ethical treatment by a competent professional who follows a strict Code of Conduct.

IS THE CONVERSATION BETWEEN PSYCHOLOGIST AND CUSTOMER COMPLETELY CONFIDENTIAL? IF YES, ARE THERE EXCEPTIONS?
